Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress, singer, and model. Her name was associated with her as the co-star of Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6 She was one of several female performers who gained from Prince's partnership in the late 1980s. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica, California in the year 1959. Her professional career began as a model during the late 1970s. Kotero also appeared on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the title of female lead on Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she changed her name) and was replaced by Vanity as part of the female-led trio Vanity 6 performing with them on the screen under the title Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter was not a huge commercial success for the trio however, she made an even bigger influence as Prince's duet partner along with Take Me with You on the soundtrack. In the aftermath of a disagreement regarding the direction she was taking in her career Apollonia 6 broke up and Kotero ended her association with Prince. She appeared in a few film roles (reportedly refusing to participate in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon) but she was not landing the role of Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia made her debut in 1988 but her comparatively tame collection of songs that incorporated dance/R&B did not make much impression on consumers of music and soon the album vanished out of sight. Her acting career continued (if it was somewhat off the under the radar) by playing small television performances, a few films, and an exercise DVD. In 1997 Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish entitled Stay with me. After that, she went back to college and earned a filmmaking degree as well as a production company, often working on children's television. Apollonia is an incredibly talented woman.
